Cape Cod 5 Awards Over $393,000 in 2nd Quarter to Local Organizations
Hyannis, MA – Cape Cod 5 provided $393,113 in funding during the second quarter of 2022 to 146 local organizations, supporting all five of Cape Cod 5’s Areas of Focus: Accessible Housing, Education & Enrichment, Economic Sustainability, Environmental Stewardship and Community Health; Human Need and Active Service Members’/Veterans’ Needs. So far this year, Cape Cod 5 has donated $664,768 to support community efforts across all regions that the Bank serves: Cape Cod, the Islands and Southeastern Massachusetts.

Accessible Housing: Housing Nantucket – Benefit Concert
Housing Nantucket’s mission is to support and provide equitable, affordable housing solutions for Nantucket’s year-round community. Their programs encourage, create and protect quality workforce housing that remains price-accessible for future generations. We were thrilled to sponsor their inaugural benefit concert, which will take place September 8 at the Chicken Box and features Maggie Rose. They are hosting this concert to bring attention to their mission, programs and services. In recent years, the dramatically declining number of year-round housing options for Nantucket’s workforce has been exacerbated.
Education & Enrichment: Falmouth Volunteers in Public Schools – Pathways Program: Increasing Student Engagement through Experiential Learning Opportunities
Falmouth Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) enriches the lives of students by promoting volunteerism, creating impactful programs, and forging community partnerships. The Pathways Program is a new program for Falmouth students in grades 7-12 at high risk of dropping out. An extension of their highly regarded school-based mentoring programs, it is a collaboration between Falmouth VIPS, Falmouth High School, the Lawrence School and several community partners.
Economic Sustainability: Cape Cod Women’s Association
Cape Cod Women’s Association (CCWA) was founded in 2017 with the objective to support women on Cape Cod. CCWA provides social and professional opportunities for women to connect, share and network for business and friendship. Their culture is one of diversity, inclusion, respect and admiration for all women. Cape Cod 5 was proud to become a Platinum Sponsor of the CCWA this year and to also support the Women’s Business Summit, which was an impressive collaboration between CCWA, SCORE Cape Cod & the Islands and Cape Cod Young Professionals.
Environmental Stewardship: Whale & Dolphin Conservation - WDC's Marine Mammal Rescue and Response (MARR) Program
Founded in 1987, Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC) is a global organization dedicated to the protection of whales and dolphins - with a core mission to educate people on the significant ecological role that whales and dolphins play in the marine ecosystem and to inspire global action to protect them. Since 2005, WDC-North America’s U.S. office, based out of Plymouth MA, has been focused on the recovery of critically endangered North Atlantic right whales and endangered Southern Resident orcas; reducing bycatch and vessel strikes to large whales; as well as increasing awareness of whales through formal and informal education initiatives. The MARR program is a formal agreement between WCD and NOAA to help respond to live and dead species of cetaceans and pinnipeds along the coast of Massachusetts.
Community Health; Human Need and Active Service Members’/Veterans’ Needs: Vineyard House – Water Tasting by the Sea
Vineyard House provides housing for Island men and women in need of a safe structured living environment while they are in the early stages of recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. Residents pay rent to live in a supportive environment and are expected to work, attend 12-step meetings and contribute in other ways to the community. The annual Water Tasting by the Sea event is a lovely celebration of Vineyard House as a model of recovery, attracting upwards of 300 guests sampling island delectables and a selection of sparkling and still waters. This is also their 25th year – Happy Anniversary, Vineyard House!
