Cape Cod 5 Provides Over $100,000 in Educational Mini-Grants to Local Schools
Hyannis, MA – Cape Cod 5 recently welcomed local public school teachers to their headquarters (HQ5) for a reception celebrating
the 25th Anniversary of the Cape Cod 5 Educational Mini-Grants Awards. The event celebrated the dedication of the teachers and recognized the breadth of this year’s program, which included 208 grants totaling $100,022 to 284 teachers from 82 local schools across Cape Cod, the Islands and Southeastern Massachusetts. These grants, awarded through the Cape Cod 5 Charitable Endowment, fund educational projects the teachers developed, impacting over 26,000 students, based on teachers’ estimates. The projects cover a wide array of subject areas, including science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM), mindfulness practice and social emotional learning and community engagement.
During the reception, Stephanie Dennehy, Executive Vice President and chair of the Mini Grants Review Committee, shared gratitude for the ongoing dedication of local educators.
“Since Cape Cod 5 started offering Educational Mini-Grants in 2000, we have been proud to support the development of our region’s future leaders with over $880,000 in total grants for our local public schools,” said Stephanie. “We’re glad to show our appreciation for our local educators who give so much of themselves and go above and beyond for their students every day by continuing to support them through this program.”
Education & Enrichment is a focus area of Cape Cod 5’s community engagement efforts. Teachers use the grants to fund original educational programs that would not otherwise be available to their students. Applications are available in the fall.
